Playing Up – Applications Now Open
Playing Up is an accredited performing arts Access to Higher Education course for young people who are not in full-time education, training, or employment. The course is run by the National Youth Theatre in partnership with Westminster Kingsway College and is accredited by OCN London. It’s taught by industry professionals for three days a week plus home study.
The course runs from October to mid-July and is based at NYT’s rehearsal rooms in Holloway Road. A strong interest in performing arts and a commitment to an intensive nine month course is essential.
Playing Up prioritises FREE places for all learners who have not yet achieved a level 3 qualification as part of National Youth Theatre’s commitment to social inclusion; level 3 learners can also enrol onto the course.
A bursary towards local travel expenses is provided thanks to support from The Leverhulme Trust.
Playing Up graduates have gone on to attend leading universities and drama schools, join the NYT REP Company, and to appear professionally on stage and screen.
Former members of Playing Up include Seraphina Beh who played Maddison Drake in Eastenders, Gavi Singh Chera who recently appeared in Headlong Theatre’s Pygmalion, and Ria Zmitrowicz who recently starred in BBC’s Three Girls.
