Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) Training
ASSET BASED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (ABCD) TRAINING
Wednesday 20th February
2pm – 4pm
Key Theatre, PE1 1EF
What is Asset Based Community Development (ABCD)?
ABCD is an approach of sustainable community-driven development. It is a method for working in and with place-based communities to identify and draw out what their assets are – people, place, stories – and how to connect the dots in order to mobilise these assets and drive projects forwards.
It is the opposite to a deficit approach to development – which would start by focusing on what is wrong, what is missing from the area – and see an agency come in, looking to ‘fix’ this issue – without understanding what is already rich about the area and thinking on how to build on this.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is ideal for anyone who works with communities as part of an organisation or on an individual basis. Come for a short introduction into this way of working and try out some mini ABCD exercises and reflective exercises.
