Following on from the success of last year’s ‘Stepping Out’, Peterborough Operatic & Dramatic Society return to the Key Studio to present that favourite farce by Alan Bennett, “Habeus Corpus”. Set in 1973, it tells the story of the dysfunctional Wicksteed family trying to keep up with the current “Permissive Society”.
Dr. Wicksteed, his wife Muriel, sister Connie and Dennis his son, together with an array of characters such as Canon Throbbing, Sir Percy Shorter and Lady Rumpers contrive to cause chaos with mistaken identities, false boobs and lost trousers.
Mr. Bennett’s command of the English language ensures we enjoy laugh after laugh without resorting to today’s profanities.
