Performance – Intermezzo String Quartet
This summer the Board Room at Browne’s Hospital in Broad Street, Stamford will be tarnsformed by renowed local artist Sue Shields into a temporary event space for a series of free events to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the outbreak of the first world war.
Using over 300 sandbags, The Board Room at Browne’s Hospital on Broad Street, Stamford will be transformed into an intimate trench-inspired event space playing host to a wide range of free events and activities this summer from July 12th to August 4th.
The space will also feature local school children’s work reflecting letters and poetry of the time, as well as responses to the momentoes and treasures owned by the soldiers, displayed in a trench inspired installation.
Join us for the Belvoir Wassailers Male Voice Choir’s Commemoration Concert or to hear the Intermezzo String Quartet perform a selection of Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Butterworth and related composers of the Great War period. INK Contemporary Theatre will be performing scenes from a new work “The Mudhook Gunners” or listen to “Songs and The Music Hall of the Great War Era” performed and discussed by The Frisbys.
