Vivacity presents Sufi:Zen by Akademi, a dramatic evening performance combining dance and theatre set in the precincts of Peterborough Cathedral. Featuring an exciting display of pyrotechnics, that provide a fiery backdrop against the soft movement of fabrics worn by the dancers, Sufi:Zen will illuminate a dark Autumn evening. Inspired by the 13th century poet Rumi, Sufi:Zen is a journey to the divine. Executed through a fusion of kathak and contemporary dance, the work explores the stillness of Zen monks and the passion of Sufi mystics, highlighting the contrasts between concentrated stillness and all-encompassing motion.

The performance of Sufi:Zen, taking place at 6.30pm on 5 October, will launch Vivacity’s larger event Museum of the Moon, which involves a programme of events inside the Cathedral and will continue until 14th October.

Both shows are being brought to Peterborough with the support of Without Walls of which Vivacity is an Associate Touring Network partner. The Associate Touring Network is a group of festival partners who work together to support the onward touring of work commissioned by Without Walls across England to diverse audiences in areas of low engagement with the arts.
