Exhibition featuring works by Ian Simm, Tony Nero Darren Stevenson, Margie Nottingham & David Lewis

Exhibition:19th January – 9th February 2019 – Time: 11:00am – 4:00pm

Darren Stevenson
Following his solo exhibition at the gallery last April/May, it’s great to see Darren’s work return to the gallery. Darren is a professional artist and his inimitable style and passion for Norfolk in his paintings of seascapes, capture the imagination of the observer in his technique expressed with powerful emotion. The Norfolk Coast has attracted visitors for centuries; one being the great W.M. Turner.

Margie Nottingham
After working as a Teacher for 18 years Margie made the decision to leave teaching in June 2018 and started to develop her art practice. Margie expresses deep feelings about her relationship with the world as she sees it. She uses a gestural abstraction style and pushes boundaries as she explores what she can see and feel in an abstract creative way. She first exhibited with Art Fair East 2018 in Norwich and is now looking forward to a solo exhibition at Norman Cross in February.

Ian Simm
In 2009 Ian had a serious Stroke, which left him unable to use his right hand and was extremely fortunate to survive. In December 2012 while on a 3-week cruise, Ian found a new awakening in Art.
Since then he has taught himself to paint, initially in watercolour and then acrylics and eventually oil paint and has shown amazing skill in all three disciplines but has conquered what most fear, oils. Good to welcome Ian back to the gallery after his solo exhibition last year.

David Lewis
David works in various 2-D media including hand-made drawings on the iPad. He draws mainly from observation even when the final outcome is completely abstract. In the past David has worked as an animator and a teacher. He still enjoys a bit of both by offering drawing tuition to groups and individuals while doing his animation mainly for personal amusement. He has also been exhibiting his art with Peterborough Artists Open Studios for a number of years.

Tony Nero
Tony’s work is very diverse and he is no stranger to the gallery and is currently artist in residence. That’s Life, showcases a few pieces of his portrait drawings, which were first featured in his solo exhibition ‘This is Me’ in 2017. You can also see one of the pieces created in his abstract urban style, never shown in the gallery before. In his practice he enjoys playing with the concept ‘Absence of Presence’, where we are able so see something that‘s no longer there, or visualise what used to be.

Exhibition held at the Norman Cross Gallery, Norman House, Norman Cross, Peterborough, Cambs PE7 3TB.

Gallery Open to the Public – Saturday 10.30am until 4.30pm Other times by appointment only. Please ring 01733 245189 email:
