Forty Years On – Exhibition

Home  /  Events  /  Art  /  Forty Years On - Exhibition

Don’t miss this exciting exhibition telling the story of Peterborough’s past. The exhibition will feature the iconic chopper bike and some other familiar items that were manufactured in Peterborough, such as the soda stream and vintage children’s games.

There will be an opportunity to see the TV adverts that featured the famous Roman Centurion Roy Kinnear and to listen to radio adverts that were part of the media campaign to attract newcomers to the city, which began in the late 1960s.

A Bakelite telephone containing oral history audio clips will enable visitors to get a real sense of what life was like in Peterborough during that exciting expansion period.

Original photographs, maps and documents will also be on display and there will be a children’s activity corner all set against the backdrop of the music and accompanied by the fashions of the time!

Forty Years On is an archive, oral history and theatre project run in partnership by Eastern Angles and Vivacity.
