Future Network

Future Network is a quarterly, informal evening hosted by Metal for artists, organisations and creative businesses working in all disciplines to come together to discuss ideas, meet others and learn new skills.

The next event is on Thursday 9th January at 6pm at Chauffeurs Cottage, St Peter’s Road, Peterborough PE1 1YX.

Guest speakers include Pete Mosley talking about his experience in the creative industry; and Jonathon Baker talking about his musical practice and his experiences working with different musical and artistic genres.

6PM – Pete Mosley – How To Make Your Creativity Pay

Pete Mosley delivers talks and training sessions on many aspects of Creativity, Business Development and Coaching. He works regularly with creative professionals, students, and people who are looking to start or develop their own small creative businesses. Pete also creates bespoke training for Creative Industry organisations and national charities. Pete writes and blogs extensively about the business of creativity. He is business editor for craft&design magazine, creating both online and offline content for the magazine and other prominent blogs including Design Trust, Creative Choices and Cockpit Arts. www.makeyourcreativitypay.com

 

7pm – 7.30pm: 3 Minute Wonders - Up to 10 x 3 minute ‘open mic’ spots for artists/organisations to talk about new ideas, existing projects, opportunities coming up, or calls for support etc.

 

7.30pm: Invited guest speaker Jonathon Baker will talk about his work with opportunity for Q&A

Jonathan Baker is a composer and singer. He writes music for voices, works with choirs and with his colleague Sian Croose is a founder member of the performance and educational charity, the Voice Project. He is also a founder of The Neutrinos, an experimental art-rock collective currently touring the Butcher of Common Sense and developing their new show Klang Haus. Many will know him as the composer of ‘Upon this Rock’ in Peterborough. Like many artists and musicians Jonathan works in several contrasting styles as part of a portfolio career. He will talk about the benefits and occasional pitfalls of working in very different musical and artistic genres and how this might help or hinder creativity.
