Each month IDEA1 invites a guest editor to choose their top five events for the month; this month was the turn of artist and storyteller, Rose Croft.

Rose’s Top 5 Choices For November
Autumn has settled in nicely. This is my favourite time of the year. It feels like the slower season, where happy memories of our bustling Summer can be cradled along with a hot cup of coffee.
Autumn is when the anticipation for things to come begins to bubble. Carving Pumpkins, Pulling on warm boots. Watching Fireworks. November things.
Here are some of the November things happening in Peterborough…
FRI 10th, SAT 11th NOV @ The Undercroft Theatre
Of course I’m going to start with a Platform 8 show!
Castle Builder is about those people with crazy big ideas who then just do them - a theme that I think we should all pay attention to, and actually something I’m seeing more of in Peterborough than ever before! Vic Llewellyn and Kid Carpet wonderfully re-imagine some of these stories with visceral live music, dancing, projection & heartfelt storytelling.
What more could you want?! What about Chewed Up Bread Sculptures you say? They’re in there too, and it all takes place in the excellent new Theatre Space in Serpentine Green Shopping Centre, The Undercroft. Find out more here.
THURS 26th - SUN 5th NOV @ The Undercroft Theatre
There’s something really lovely about stepping into the Undercroft space. This is where Theatre Company Eastern Angles can be found giving us exciting top quality personal Theatre for Peterborough.
All Wrapped Up is a community production inspired by stories from local folk who worked at Peterborough’s Freemans Catalogue Distribution Centre from the 1960s to the early 2000s. It’s a performance telling a story from a small piece of our History in a new theatre space ; a ‘must see’ juxtaposition of our old and our new. Oh and I helped to paint the set floor! Find out more here.
SAT 12th NOV - 2.00pm @ The Undercroft
The second Show at the Undercroft is one for the kids. Platform 8 is bringing the Super Mega Rocking Rock Show for our youngsters to rock out to as well as their adults.
Described as ‘The Mighty Boosh for kids’ and ‘Anarchy, irreverence and belly laughs for adults and children alike’ this show gives you all the best bits from Kid Carpets Family Shows whilst providing you with a unique mix of live music, performance, comedy, animation and ping pong balls. Everything you need for your 3 - 8 year olds. Don’t have children? Borrow some and go anyway! More details here.
TUES 7th NOV - 8.00pm @ Stoneworks
One of Peterborough’s own slightly crazy and amazing ideas was crossing spoken word, a West Side Story style battle and poker chips with alcohol… and we got Write Club. Celebrating it’s first birthday, Write Club is a poetry night with a twist. It has never failed to be a grand event filled with top quality performances always from a very diverse group of people. If you enjoy spoken word, great company and probably a beer or two then you should definitely head to the stoneworks for this competitive event.
No Poets are harmed in the making of Write Club. except for hangovers.
Support our Spoken Word Scene and follow the first rule of Write Club - Tell everyone about Write Club. More info here.
THURS 9th, FRI 10th NOV @ The Key Theatre
An intense and outstanding one woman show. Ross and Rachel tells the mind-bending, heart-breaking story of what happens when a couple that was always meant to be together, gets together. And stays together. For better or for worse. In sickness and in Health.
This is definitely one for a night out with friends where you can have a drink before, watch Mona Goodwin singlehandedly grip you for an hour and then have a drink after to discuss it all. You’ll want to talk about it so bring a friend or three. Full details here.
