There are few things more arresting when heard in person than music made by a choir. The choral repertoire exploits the compelling force achieved through the gathering together of voices in unified expression, in order to convey extremes of emotion.
In a concert that features some of the absolute classics of the genre, the Willow Consort (directed by Danny Purtell) will perform works by composers including Sheppard, Tavener, Lotti, Byrd, Gibbons, Parry, and Rheinberger – a huge range of nationalities and time periods.
Refreshments will be available at the interval.
£25/10 (season pass, for all 5 concerts in the series)
Other music from the same time period can be heard in two other concerts in the PVoC series (Early English Song and Consort), and Danny Purtell and some choir members will feature in other concerts in the season.
