Magna Carta 800th Anniversary with Poets United
Magna Carta was agreed on 15th June 1215 and formally issued on 19th June, so (ignoring the calendar change of 1752) it will be pretty well 800 years to the day that Poets United return to St John’s Church with a selection of poems about and responding to Magna Carta. We’re not quite sure who will be coming, but our former poet in residence Pete Cardinal Cox will certainly be one of the poets reading. He’ll be joined by Vivien Foster, who was one of the local poets chosen to write a poem about the city’s buses for this year’s Green Festival. We’re also expecting Pete Irving, Peterborough’s current poet laureate, and Stuart Pedley.
This will be the final Tuesdays Till Two event of our spring season. We’ll be taking a break until Aug 4th, when we return with four summer lunchtime recitals. A donation of £3 will be appreciated to help with the costs of putting on this event.
As ever the café will be open from noon with a selection of home made baked goodies on sale in aid of The Green Backyard.
