We Love Words is everything a good Festival should be: high quality, diverse, well-organised, surprising, challenging and involving. It has already become a beacon in the region, and I hope it burns more brightly year by year’. Sir Andrew Motion.

A warm welcome to We love Words , the Poetry and Literature Festival for Peterborough, brought to you for the second year by the John Clare Trust. We have walks, talks and workshops; drama, music and rap all inspired by poetry and literature. We are delighted to be working again in partnership with Ormiston Bushfield Academy, Vivacity, Peterborough City Council, Metal and The Langdyke Trust and we are privileged to have received help with funding the festival from serco and Peterborough City Council. The Key Theatre is on the Nene Riverside, on Embankment Road – within easy walking distance from the city centre, bus and train stations. By car, follow signs for the town centre, and you’ll see signs for the Key Theatre. Embankment Road is on the left, and there’s a pay and display car park opposite. Chauffeurs Cottage No longer known for the place to go for paying off your parking tickets, METAL have taken over Chauffeurs Cottage, and we are pleased to make this our literary base for this year’s We Love Words Festival. You will find us just at the back of the town hall on St Peters Road, Peterborough PE1 1YX.

Waterstones join us again as our official booksellers for the We Love Words Literature and Poetry Festival. They are also pleased to support the John Clare Trust international poetry competition (details can be found on www.clarecottage.org) and to host some of our events this year. You can find them on 40 Bridge St, Peterborough PE1 1DT. They will be happy to help you with any book enquiry or order you may have.

Charters is a tastefully converted floating Dutch barge (Leendert-R), which now holds a real ale/late night live music bar on the lower deck, with a 100 seater full Pan Asian restaurant called East on the upper deck. Charters is situated on the river Nene in the centre of Peterborough, on the west side of the town bridge and is reputedly the largest converted barge in Great Britain.
