Exhibition: On Form
Select: An exhibition curated from the Arts Council Collection
26 Jan – 22 Mar 2018
Peterborough Museum and City Gallery present a phenomenal display of artworks by internationally acclaimed artists. Showcasing sculpture, print, painting and drawing dating from the 50’s to present day, the works represent prominent figures in modern and contemporary art. Each with their own unique style, the artists included in the exhibition are distinguishable by their choice of subject matter, colour, line and form.
The exhibition features works by artists owned by collections both nationally and regionally. Artworks were selected from the Arts Council Collection, which includes nearly 8000 artworks by 2000 artists, and the Ealand & Warwick Bequest, which is part of our own collection.
The Arts Council Collection is the most widely circulated national loan collection of modern and contemporary British art. The artworks chosen for the exhibition have been exhibited all over the world but have never before been seen in Peterborough. Names in the show familiar to Peterborough include Antony Gormley and David Annesley, both of whom have pieces in Vivacity’s Sculpture Collection.
The Ealand & Warwick Bequest is a personal selection of artworks brought together by Tom Ealand and Richard Warwick. The collection was first exhibited publically in Friends Through Art at Peterborough Museum and City Gallery in 2016. The artworks chosen for the exhibition compliment those from the Arts Council Collection and include notable painters of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.
Arts Council Collection is managed by Southbank Centre London on behalf of Arts Council England.
Ealand & Warwick Bequest is managed by Peterborough Museum and City Gallery, Vivacity.
