Call for Participants: Add Your Voice to The GBY Audio

Inside a Green Backyard with artist Jessie Brennan

Sunday 6 December, 11 – 3pm drop-in, The Green Backyard,
Peterborough, to co-inside with The GBY Christmas Fair
Visit The Green Backyard (GBY) and meet .artist in residence’
Jessie Brennan, who
invites you to contribute to her project Inside a Green Backyard. Discover the GBY
darkroom and camera-less photographic process she is currently using (called
cyanotype), and contribute your voice to the GBY archive by making a short sound-
recording:

At GBY, choose a plant or object and make a sound-recording telling about your
choice and why the place (GBY) matters to you. We’d love to hear what you value –
personally, socially, environmentally, politically etc. – about the site (but you don’t
need to have already visited to take part in this project). And we’d like to hear a bit
about you too…

Later, Jessie will make a cyanotype of your plant or object, and both the image of
your plant/object and your recording will be added to the GBY archive. The outcomes
of the project will be exhibited at Peterborough City Museum in 2016, printed in a
publication and made available online. The project’s intention is to encourage
discussion and reflection on the environmental and social values of the land, before
its planned potential redevelopment by Peterborough City Council. We really
welcome your contributions – they will act as testimonials in support of The Green
Backyard, whose future at the Oundle Road site is still uncertain.
