Peterborough is thriving with diverse communities from all over the world who have made this city their home. We think these communities deserve to be represented in the arts and culture in Peterborough. We support this through hosting regular Bridgebuilder meetings and through our Community Arts Programme.

The Community Arts Programme

The Community Arts Programme supports community and voluntary organisations in developing their own great art activities in Peterborough. It provides up to £1000 of funding to arts projects that:

  • Provide opportunities for people to experience new and interesting activities
  • Take place in community settings
  • Raise the profile of the arts in Peterborough

Potential applications for activity could include:

  • Running a workshop
  • Hosting a performance
  • Holding an exhibition

How it Works

There is £1000 of funding available each month for voluntary or community organisations. Depending on your activity you could apply for £250 or you could apply for the full £1000. Please note, individual artists are unable to apply for this fund, unless you make a joint application in the name of the community organisation you plan to work with. For our Small Commissions fund, click here.

All applications received in a calendar month will be assessed together and applicants will be informed of the outcome by the 20th of the following month. The number of applications funded each month is likely to vary; one month we may fund four applications for £250 and the next month we may fund one large application for £1000.

Make sure you plan ahead and allow at least eight weeks between submitting your application and running your activity.

Bridgebuilder Meetings

Our Community Bridgebuilders are all ages and backgrounds, and they meet monthly at the Beehive Community Centre (not the pub!) to work with the Peterborough Presents team to help shape our events programme. They do this by: suggesting and commissioning artists, recommending venues, advising on marketing, and promoting events to their own communities.

New members are always welcome. If you are someone who is active within a community and you want to get involved in providing opportunities for local people, you should come along to our meetings. Come to as many as you want, or just pop in when you’re able. We meet monthly at the Beehive Community Centre, PE1 3BB.
